An Unexpected Reiki Healing

8/19/2015

On a trip to New Mexico a few years ago, I had the privilege of staying at the home of a friend’s friend. In this home was a reclusive cat named Buster. I was warned to keep my distance as he was NOT a snuggler. He didn’t even want to be petted.  One night while we three friends watched a movie, Buster jumped up on the sofa, climbed onto my lap and stood with his front paws on my chest and stared at me. Being warned of his nature, I was afraid to make eye contact. Did I sit in his favorite spot or on his favorite toy? After a few uncomfortable moments that really seemed like minutes, he settled himself on my lap and I began to feel energy running. It is not uncommon in situations to suddenly feel Reiki running, especially with my dog, Rusty, who loved receiving healing energy for his arthritis “Hmm..” I thought. “ I think I am giving this cat Reiki. Poor thing must need it.” After a good hour, he got up and left the room. I went to bed and slept soundly – the same wonderful way that I sleep every time I receive Reiki. So the next morning, I checked in with guidance and asked “Did I give Reiki to Buster the cat?” Answer: No. Next question, “Did Buster give Reiki to me?” Answer: Big YES. My lesson - besides the one about Divine Humility-, is that the beautiful gift of Reiki can come from all shapes, sizes, and species when we are open to it. A day or so later when my friend and I were giving our host Reiki, Buster suddenly showed up and placed himself on our friend’s torso. He was apparently a seasoned healer comfortable with his Divine Service. Thank you, Reiki Master Buster. I love you. Julie
